The Burke Basketball referee program exists to provide new and experienced officials to call games for the Burke Basketball youth house leagues.

Each year our organization trains referees to officiate games for our winter, spring, and summer seasons.

Please keep in mind this program is very demanding as it requires a very mature personality. Young referees may find themselves having to deal with coaches acting in a 'non-professional' manner while still maintaining control of the game. When possible, young referees will be teamed with an experienced adult during the early part of their first season.

Attending the training sessions is mandatory as noted below. Please note that Burke Basketball will do its best to assign games to all candidates that complete the training but there are occasionally more prospective applicants each season than there are available games.

Rules for Burke Basketball can be found after I meet with the league I will set a blue hyperlink.

We have a two part series Basketball Officials' Training Clinics for all eligible candidates interested in becoming a Burke Basketball Official.
Note that it doesn't matter which session you attend though for those attending an on-court session, it's preferable that you attend a classroom session before an on-court training session if at  all possible.

All Burke referees MUST attend ONE of the following mandatory classroom training sessions:

Classroom Session 1:  Wednesday November 9, 5:45 pm to 9:00 pm- Oak View Elementary School Cafeteria

OR

Classroom Session  2: Saturday, November 12, 8:45 am to 12:00 pm- Oak View Elementary School Cafeteria
