Thanks to all of our participants and coaches for an awesome 2026 Instructional League season! We appreciate the hard work of the players and the dedication of the coaches for making it all possible. We hope the kids had a lot of fun and will continue to practice their basketball skills and grow their love of the game!

We plan to be back in January of 2027, registration will be available in Fall of 2026. Burke Basketball will send out registration information, please keep an eye on the burke basketball website and this page for more information.

Here is our updated schedule, this has been changed after our cancellation on Saturday 01/17/2026, due to the gym being closed. We simply took the schedule that was planned for 01/17 and applied it to 02/21, which we had saved for occasions just like this! Thanks for your flexibility.

We are sorry for the late notice, Fairview ES is not available for us today, so we are cancelling all sessions today, Saturday 01/17/2026. An email will be sent out with an updated schedule this week.

Our first session will be held on Saturday, January 10th, 2026.

Our sessions are held at Fairview Elementary School in Burke. The session times range from 9:00-3:00pm. Each session lasts 1 hour.

We rotate session times every week, so one week you may start at 9:00am, another week may be 11:30am. Our latest session starts at 2:00pm and is complete by 3:00pm.

We have past the deadline for registrations for our 2026 season. Please recommend our league to any basketball interested friends or family, we plan to be back in January 2027!

The Instructional program is designed for boys and girls, ages five (5) and six (6) years old (or grades K-1). 

We organize players into 5 groups to help manage the size of each session. 

Generally, the groups will be formed with players from the same schools or with friends by special request through your registration. We do our best to accommodate special requests. 

Each participant receives a custom Burke Basketball Instructional league t-shirt and a basketball, plus another other fun prizes our budget can afford!. 

During the first 3-4 weeks, we will emphasize individual skills like dribbling, passing, and shooting. During the last 2-3 weeks, we will incorporate those basketball skills into live-game situations, starting with 1v1 and progressing to actual 5v5 games. That way, the players will get introduced to other skills and concepts, like playing defense, and when to pass to teammates.

Our program focuses on providing a positive introduction to basketball. We are focused on creating a great sports learning experience as this is often the player's first experience with organized basketball or sports in general!

Our objective is to teach beginning players the basic skills of basketball, to have fun, enjoy and respect the game, and hopefully enable them to practice and progress to higher levels.
